What we offer

  • Grants of up to £10,000 for public-facing dissemination of research in global philosophy of religion
  • Can be used to produce accessible videos, podcasts, books, or articles, or to organize events, such as public lectures, debates, roundtables, or training seminars. (Note that indirect costs/overheads are not permitted.)
  • Open to applications from those working in partnership with organizations to deliver impact through policy, public education and understanding, and societal and cultural effects.
  • We particularly welcome projects that are led or co-led by researchers from underrepresented religious traditions or underrepresented countries

 

Application process

Submit the following items written in English by the end of 19/09/2025 (BST):

  • CV(s) of the applicant(s)
  • A summary of the proposed project of no more than 200 words
  • A project proposal of 1500-3000 words addressing the following:
    • the aim of the project
    • project activities
    • project outputs
    • a project timeline
    • a budget narrative
    • the qualifications of the applicant(s)
    • the host institution

Eligibility criteria

  • The proposed project involves—either as project members or participants in project activities or outputs—researchers or other qualified parties representing religious traditions or geographical regions that are currently underrepresented in Western philosophy of religion.
  • The proposed project is public-facing and promotes understanding, interest, and impact for research in global philosophy of religion.
  • The proposed project will end by February 28, 2027, and completed project outputs will be submitted by then, without delay.
  • The proposed project is to be hosted at a higher education institution or a traditional religious institution, such as a yeshiva, madrasa, or ashram that can demonstrate prior experience with administering research grants.
  • No more than 20% of the proposed grant is used for travel and lodging.

 

Selection process

We will form a selection committee which involves members external to the project team. We will assess each application according to the following selection criteria:

  • The quality of the summary and the proposal
  • The potential reach and effect of the project on public awareness, engagement, or impact of research
  • The relevance of the proposed project to global philosophy of religion generally, and the theme of GPR-2 specifically
  • The applicant’s track record of public engagement and impact
  • The expected impact the proposed project will make on the globalization and diversification of the philosophy of religion
