The Global Philosophy of Religion Project 2 is has an exciting new collaboration with The Philosophers' Yard. See below for an overview, full details available here.
What emotions does death evoke in you? Fear, gratitude, anger - or something else entirely? What does it mean to die well? And why is death still one of the hardest subjects for us to talk about?
On Thursday 15th October, join The Philosophers' Yard and the Global Philosophy of Religion Project for an evening of philosophy, conversation, and live poetry exploring one of life's most universal questions.
Featuring Professor Michael Cholbi (University of Edinburgh), one of the world's leading philosophers of death and dying, and Dr Emma Hodges, founder of Public Health Palliative Care UK, we'll explore both the philosophical meaning of death and the social consequences of how we respond to it. Following the talks, you'll have the opportunity to join interactive breakout discussions exploring emotions, grief, cultural traditions, and what it means to talk more openly about mortality.
Our events are open to everyone. Each gathering is designed to offer something for all, with space to listen, learn and share ideas in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
