What we offer
- Grants of £2,000.
- Awarded to academics at underfunded institutions who intend to purchase books (electronic or hard copies) to strengthen their library collections.
- Grants can be used to cover costs for purchasing books, including shipping and any other administrative expenses.
Application process
Applications are considered on an ongoing basis until all grants are awarded. Applicants are therefore invited to submit an application as soon as possible. An application requires:
- A CV(s) of the applicant(s)
- A proposal of 1500-3000 words addressing the following:
- a list of books to be purchased
- the rationale for applying for this funding scheme
- the expected use of the books in teaching and research
- the qualifications of the applicant(s)
- a letter from the chair of the department confirming willingness to support the application
- a budget narrative

Eligibility criteria
- The library of the applicant’s institution is currently underfunded (we prioritise libraries in underprivileged countries)
- The listed books are relevant to the theme of GPR-2
Selection process
We will assess each application according to the following selection criteria:
- the quality of the proposal
- the relevance of the proposed books to the theme of GPR-2
- the expected impact the book purchase at the applicant’s institution
